World Cup Weblog - Germany 2006
Fulham's Goal Keeper Tony Warner has agree to play for Trinidad and Tobago in this year's World Cup despite not holding a Trinidad Passport.Warner's father Clyde was born in Trinidad and Tobago before moving to Britian 44 years ago, meaning his son can play for the country he last visited in 1995.
Warner has made 14 starts this season for Fulham, and will join his teammates in Germany to face England, Sweden and Paraguay in the group stages of the competition.
His first task will be to learn the Trinidad national anthem "Forged From the Love of Liberty".
Thinking of trying your luck in the Trinidad team? Then you'll need to get learning:
Forged from the Love of Liberty
in the Fires of Hope and Prayer
with boundless faith in our destiny
We solemnly declare
Side by Side we stand
Islands of the blue Caribbean Sea
This our native land
we pledge our lives to thee
Here every creed and race find an equal place
And may God bless our nation
Here every creed and race find an equal place
And may God bless our nation.
