Rooney Out of World Cup

According to the BBC, Rooney is out for 6 weeks with a broken Metatarsal. With the England - Paraguay game 6 weeks today Owen being fit for any World Cup games looks highly doubtful. Bugger.

Owen's not looking great either - he was limping by the end of Newcastle's match with Birmingham. Christ.

Scolari says no. Tabloids look around whistling.

According to the Guardian, Scolari is sick of the Tabloid intrusion before he even takes the job...

"The FA has a list of names it will choose its next manager from, but mine isn't one of them because I am closing this matter now."

"I am happy that they considered me but I don't want anything more to do with this because for two days my life has been invaded and my privacy destroyed."

Can't say I blame him...

Scolari offered England job!

So, according to The Guardian and a few other sources, Brian Barwick travelled to Portugal yesterday to offer Big Phil the job.

Luiz Felipe Scolari, also known as Felipão ('Big Phil'), was the first foreign coach ever to lead any team to the final of a European Championships with Portugal in 2004, and won the World Cup with Brazil in 2002.

Domestically he has an impressive record too - he won Brazilian Cup in 1991 with Criciúma.

He won the Brazilian Cup (1994), Libertadores da América (1995), Runner-up in the Toyota Cup (World Club Cup), The Recopa (1995), The Brazilian Championship (1996) all with Grêmio.

According to Wikipedia, he's also a Nottingham Forest fan...
